Can a physiotherapist treat migraines and headaches?

As manual therapy experts, physiotherapists can play a role in the treatment of migraines and cervicogenic headaches. Our physiotherapist, Jasmine Baye, has taken additional training under the Watson’s Headache Approach to diagnose and treat headache and migraine conditions stemming from the upper cervical spine.

What is the Watson’s Headache Approach?

The Watson’s Headache Approach is an internationally recognized manual therapy approach that aims to identify the relevancy of the C1-3 spinal nerves to and individual’s headache or migraine conditions. Through this approach our physiotherapist can assess which of the upper cervical spine joints are contributing to the headache or migraine and to reproduce the symptom of headache or migraine.

What kind of headaches can a physiotherapist treat?

  • Cluster Headaches

  • Side-locked Headaches

  • Bilateral Headaches

  • Tension Headaches

  • Alternating Headaches

  • Cervicogenic Headaches

  • Menstrual Migraines
